HealthShield 2026 – Promoting Drug-Free Living and Professional Excellence
PGP Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Namakkal, organized HealthShield 2026, a student-focused awareness and professional development programme aimed at promoting drug-free living, personality development, and career readiness among future healthcare professionals. The programme was conducted under the guidance and support of Dr. Palani G. Periasamy, Chairman, and Mrs. Visalakshi Periasamy, Vice Chairperson. Mr. M. Ganapathy, IFS (Retd.), Correspondent, delivered the Presidential Address, while Dr. K. Periyasamy, Dean – Academic Affairs, delivered the Felicitation Address. The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. V. Nagasinduja, Principal. Mr. S. Sriram, HR, Apollo Group of Hospitals, Karur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered an insightful session on personality development and the expectations of the healthcare industry. He emphasized the importance of communication, confidence, teamwork, professional ethics, adaptability, and a positive attitude in building successful healthcare careers. A powerful anti-drug awareness mime presented by the students was one of the highlights of the programme, creating a strong message on the consequences of substance abuse and the importance of healthy choices. The programme also featured skill-oriented competitions: Art Against Drugs – Drawing Competition, Beat Hepatitis – Paper Presentation, and Breathe Free: Fight Lung Cancer – Poster Presentation, providing students with opportunities to showcase their creativity, knowledge, and public health awareness. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members and reinforced the institution’s commitment to nurturing healthy, confident, socially responsible, and industry-ready healthcare professionals. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Miss Daisy, Lecturer.
